Birmingham, AL —
Following the announcement of a special legislative session to address congressional and state legislative district lines, State Senate candidate Spencer Stone is calling for transparency and a limited, court-compliant approach.
"When the Governor initially indicated there would not be a special session, I was surprised — and I respected that decision. It reflected an opportunity for Alabama to prioritize stability and avoid unnecessary disruption."
With a special session now planned, Stone emphasized that any redistricting effort should remain narrowly focused and transparent to the public.
"If this session is about complying with the law, then it should be limited and clear in its purpose. Expanding beyond that risks undermining public trust."
Stone added that redistricting should never be used as a political tool.
"District lines should not be drawn to benefit politicians. They should reflect the people they represent."
Stone said he will continue monitoring developments and encouraged lawmakers to proceed carefully.
"Alabamians deserve a process that is fair, transparent, and focused on doing what is necessary — nothing more."
